GOD'S MONEY

THE ENVELOPE PLEASE
The ushers passed out envelopes as Reverend Rob Bromhead instructed us in the congregation not to open or try to peak.

After his sermon on the topic of whether we are the owners or stewards of our financials blessings, Reverend Bromhead had us open those envelopes.
Each person received either $5, $10 or $20 and a challenge:

"Come back on September 25 and show how you have used God's money."

So, here is what I have decided to do.  I will double God's money by adding another $10.  Then I will contribute it to an organization that can really use the help to help others.

YOU TAKE THE $10 CHALLENGE
Now, I am asking all my friends and family to spread this challenge and make it bigger and better.
  • Donate $10 to one of the needy organizations below. If you can't spare the ten alone, ask friends to pitch in.
  • Share how you met the $10 challenge me an e-mail, post on my facebook or on this  blog.  Include photos and stories of how you met the challenge. The deadline is September 18.
Reverend Bromhead will use some of our experiences in a future sermon-- without using our names or revealing our identities, unless you provide permission.

THE ORGANIZATIONS
Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute •Hendersonville, NC
This small, mountain college is the first step for many young men seeking to become ministers in the Southern Baptist faith.  They come with God's calling, their families and are required to preach sermons, for which they must wear suits and professional attire.  Often, they have to choose between food and clothing. This is not financially easy for poor college students.  Even $10 can buy a gift card that will make a difference.

Here are ways you can help:
  1. Buy grocery gift cards for Fruitland -- even $10 would help.  The nearest grocery is Ingles in Hendersonville, NC.
  2. Buy gift cards for clothing for J.C. Penney.
Send the to Bobby Garrett, Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute, 1455 Gilliam Road, Hendersonville, NC 28792 •  Mark the gift for Holiday Food & Student Clothing Ministry.
  • Pray that the ministry will continue after this year.  The death this year of the husband  of the couple who started the ministry has severely limited the ability of his widow to continue the work.  She has limited vision and cannot drive.
Medical Care for Children, Fairfax County
This small foundation provides comprehensive medical and dental care for children of low income families in Fairfax County  and a very low rate of $325 per year per child.
There are many opportunities for involvement. You can:
  • Ask your physician, dentist or pharmacy to participate.
  • Become a Sponsor. Contribute one year of health care for one or more children — just $325 per child, per year, or donate a different amount for children's medical expenses, laboratory tests or prescription assistance. THIS IS JUST 32 FRIENDS.
  • Volunteer your time or your corporation's talents, i.e. printing, hosting a special event.

Contact the MCCP Foundation for more information on how to volunteer your time and talents or make a donation .
